The Last of Us remake was deemed easier in that regard. Plus, it could serve as a much better technical showcase for the PS5 as it had a greater variety of locations compared to Uncharted 1. Also, as an Uncharted 1 remake was deemed unfeasible, it would be strange to remake only Uncharted 2 or 3. It's still good. It holds up perfectly well. The improvements for Part 1 really impressed me and I do think it's well worth your time, but if you can't or you're not interested in investing in that, Remastered is a great game and you're not missing out on too much.
Killing Joel early is just good writing. It creates real emotion. Ellie was robbed of more time with him and so were we. It made is us angry, it made us sad, we felt real loss. No other game I've ever played as made me feel that. To me that's an achievement in itself.
